Jonathan C. Willard is the CEO of a comprehensive health care, environmental, and laboratory gas service and consulting company. He has worked in every aspect of the medical gas industry for the last 30 years, including regulatory compliance, consulting, design, construction, testing, training, and emergency preparedness. His involvement in health care projects have taken him all over the world, including a combat zone in Afghanistan, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, the Korean Peninsula, Post Hurricane Haiti, and his personal favorite St. Lucia.
Mr. Willard is the chairman of the NFPA 55 Technical Committee for Industrial and Medical Gases and a Principal Member of the both the Medical Gas Piping and Hyperbaric Technical Committees for NFPA 99. His credentials include being a certified Project Management Professional (PMP©), a Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC), and a LEED Accredited Professional (AP), with a Master of Science degree in Business Education (MBE), and currently serves on the Medical Gas Professional Healthcare Organization (MGPHO) Board of Directors. The Standard Renewal

The standard renewal course may be used for up to one year after the expiration date to renew any ASSE 6000 series certification. The standard renewal course includes the online training (4 hours) and the renewal exam (30 questions). If your certification is expired and you complete the renewal course, the new expiration date for your certification will be (3) years from the original expiration date. This is done in order to maintain the require continuity in accordance with the ASSE 6000 standard.

After an ASSE 6000 series certification has been expired for more than one year, additional training is required in order to issue a new certification. After completing the recovery course, the new certification will be valid for three years from the date of completion. We've build our recovery course to make this process as easy as possible. The recovery course includes the online training (24 hours) and the final exam (100 questions).

Final Exam
Upon completion of the (4) hour training course, the candidate may register to complete the renewal exam. The examinations are administered by the Medical Gas Training Institute (MGTI) through this same website. The exams are made up of (30) multiple-choice and true/false questions, and the passing score required is 70%. The results are available immediately after completing the exam. If the candidate is successful in passing the renewal exam, your wall certificate will be emailed to you within a few business days (the certificate will also be available on your account page once it is processed and emailed to you). Certification wallet cards will be sent via U.S. Mail within a couple of weeks.
The renewal exams are designed to test for the candidates' knowledge and understanding of the applicable codes, standards, and practices required for renewing their certification. Examination structure and content are based on information reviewed during the (4) hour training course, as well as, the NFPA 99: Health Care Facilities Code, current edition, NFPA 55: Compressed Gases and Cryogenic Fluids Code, current edition, and the ASSE Series 6000 Professional Qualification Standard.

Certification Renewal
Attaining certification is an indication of mastery of a well-defined body of knowledge at a point in time. Periodic renewal of the certification is required to maintain certified status. Initial ASSE 6000 certification or renewal of certification is valid for three (3) years.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I renew my ASSE certification with MGC?
In order to be re-certified, you must complete a (4) hour training course and take the MGTI renewal exam. Both can be completed 100% online. To start the renewal process, simply purchase the renewal course and after the transaction is processed, you will received a confirmation email with the next steps.
How long do I have to complete the course?
Candidates have six (6) months from the date of purchase to complete all of the requirements for the course. Failure to complete the course within six (6) months may result in forfeiture of the program fees.
What materials do I need?
Candidates should obtain a copy of NFPA 99: Health Care Facilities Code, current edition.
What if I fail the examination?
If the candidate fails the examination, there is a retake fee of $75.00 for the renewal examination.
Can I renew my ASSE 6010 and ASME IX Brazing certification with MGC?
Yes. We offer renewal training for ALL of the ASSE 6000 series certifications. If your ASME IX Brazing certification continuity has lapsed, you can update this certification as well. Our Brazing Test Kit has everything you need to complete the brazing at your desired location.
Can I transfer my existing NITC certification?
Yes. You may transfer any ASSE 6000 certification from an approved third party agency through our standard renewal course. There is no extra fee to transfer your certification.
