The ASSE Medical Gas Certification Renewal Program was developed to satisfy the requirements of the ASSE 6000 Professional Qualification Standard for Medical Gas Personnel. It is web-based and self-paced, and the program contents are all provided online. This training is suitable for ANY of the ASSE 6000 series medical gas certifications.
Final Exam
Upon completion of the (4) hour training program, the candidate may register to complete the Re-Certification Examination. The exams are administered by the Medical Gas Training Institute (MGTI) through an online testing solution. The exams are made up of multiple choice and true/false questions, and the passing score for the exams varies by certification type. The results are available immediately after completing the exam. If the candidate is successful in passing the Re-Certification Examination, wall certificates and certification cards will be sent by MGTI.
The certification examinations are designed to test for the candidates’ knowledge and understanding of the applicable codes, standards, and practices required for this specific certification. Exam structure and content are based on information reviewed during the (4) hour training program, as well as, the NFPA 99: Health Care Facilities Code, 2021 edition, NFPA 55: Compressed Gases and Cryogenic Fluids Code, current edition, ASSE Series 6000 Professional Qualification Standard.
Program Fee – $295
The fee must be received prior to starting the training program. The program fee covers the following items.
- Online Training Course
- Access to program author for questions and clarifications
- Re-Certification Examination (25 questions)*
- ASSE 6000 Certification and Wallet Card (Provided by MGTI)
- Certificate of Completion (For Non-MGTI Certifications)
Candidates have one (1) year from the date of purchase to complete all the requirements. Failure to complete these requirements within one (1) year will result in forfeiture of program fees.
The program fee does not include transferring other certifications. There is an additional charge for transfers.

About the Instructor
Jonathan C. Willard is a principal member of the Technical Committee on Medical Gas and Vacuum Piping Systems (NFPA 99: Health Care Facilities Code) and a principal member of the Technical Committee on Industrial and Medical Gases (NFPA 55: Compressed Gases and Cryogenic Fluids Code). He holds a Credentialed Medical Gas Verifier (CMGV©) certification and has served on the Medical Gas Professional Healthcare Organization (MGPHO) Board of Directors as the Vice President of Credentials. He is also a LEED AP© (Accredited Professional), a certified Project Management Professional (PMP©), a Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC), and is Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD©) and has a Master of Science degree in Business Education (MBE).

How do I renew my ASSE certification with MGC?
In order to be re-certified, you must complete a (4) hour training course and take the MGTI re-certification exam. Both can be completed online. To start the process, you will need to complete the application. Once received we will send a confirmation email with the next steps.
CAN I TRANSFER MY EXISTING NITC CERTIFICATION?
Yes, transfer of your existing, non-expired, ASSE 6000 Series NITC certification is allowed. Once a transfer request is approved, you are required to complete the recertification program in accordance with the Medical Gas Training Institute requirements. You can also transfer your certifications from other approved Third-Party Certification Agencies.

Can I renew my ASSE 6010 and ASME IX Brazing certification with MGC?
Yes. During the registration process, copies of current certification documents will be required and can be uploaded at the time of registration. However, some additional information may be requested to verify the documents. This request will be made sometime after the application and documentation have been submitted.
